Austrian-born Australian Painter, 1811-1901 was an Austrian-born artist, active in Australia 1852-1882. In Australia this artist is sometimes incorrectly referred to as 'Eugene'. Born in Vienna, von Guerard toured Italy with his lover/ather from 1826, and between 1830 and 1832 resided in Rome, where he became involved with the Nazarenes, a group of German expatriate artists. From around 1839 to 1844 he studied landscape painting at the Dusseldorf Academy, and travelled widely. Galeazzo Campi
(1475/1477 - 1536) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance from Cremona. He was a pupil of Boccaccio Boccaccinis . His representation was rather rigid, but careful. His landscapes show influences of Perugino and Giovanni Bellini. Campi was the head of an artist family, existing in the middle and end of 16th Century who lived in Cremona and left numerous works of art. His three sons, Giulio Campi, Antonio Campi and Vincenzo Campi are historically noteworthy.
ZIMMERMANN Johann Baptist
German painter, Bavarian school (b. 1680, Wessobrun, d. 1758, Menchen). Painter and stuccoist. Much of his early stuccowork and frescoes, such as that in the choir of Gosseltshausen parish church (1701) and the refectories of the abbeys at Tegernsee, Weyarn and Beyharting (before 1710), has been destroyed. His earliest surviving stuccowork (1707-9) is in the pilgrimage church of Maria Schnee, near Markt Rettenbach, and reveals the influences of Johann Schmuzer from Wessobrunn and an Italian stucco workshop that practised in Tegernsee.
